IMPORT TESTING
Test a vCard in the contact apps that will receive it
Review the imported name and contact fields on representative devices before printing or sharing the final QR.
A generated contact symbol can be readable while the receiving contact app organizes its fields differently from your expectation. RSContactTag emits a vCard 3.0 payload. Testing an import is how you discover whether the name, organization and optional details land usefully in the apps your audience uses.
Create one deliberate trial card
Use a name and public fields whose spelling you can check easily. Include only the optional fields needed for the finished card. For a fictional trial, an Example Studio organization and an address under example.com make it clear that the content is demonstration data. Record the entered values so the import can be compared with the intended source rather than with a vague memory of the form.
Inspect the preview before saving
Scan the trial and read the contact preview where the device provides one. Check which part appears as the displayed name and whether the organization remains separate. Review email, phone and website punctuation. A successful scan means the code was read; the contact preview reveals how its vCard fields were interpreted. Do not assume a familiar icon proves that every optional field has been imported correctly.
Repeat on another representative app or device
Where practical, try the same saved code on a second contact workflow used by your intended audience. Compare the imported fields rather than just the scan speed. Different apps can expose different labels or omit a field from the first screen. Keep the payload simple when only a few public details are necessary, and verify whether an unexpected display comes from the entered data or the receiving app.
Retest the final printed layout
After the fields are accepted, place the code in the final card design and scan a sample at its intended size. Preserve the clear border and avoid distorting the proportions. Inspect both readability and the contact import again. The format test and the print-layout test answer different questions, and a later change to either the details or the artwork deserves a fresh check.
